This was one great swap.
At our club, North Wilts Fly-Fishing Club, we had decided to run a fly swap with a theme on wet flys. It was decided
that we should make it an international swap between other clubs and ourselves. So via the VFB out went the cry for participants
to join in.
The only club that joined in was the Northern Lights FFC fom Edmonton in Canada.
Keeping with the theme of wet flies the UK guys tied up traditional wets. The NLFFC did likewise and the other places
were made up with tyers from around the world including Holland, USA, South Africa and Austrlia.
A mixed bag was certain.
The initial call was for 24 tyers. In the end we got 21. They still did the full 24 flies
and the remaining sets were sent to Charities that either introduce people to fly-fishing or are involved with making life
easier through fly-fishing. The two we chose were Casting for Recovery and the Isaac Walton Trust. Casting for Recovery is
a charity that helps women with breast cancer and they have just started a UK division. The Isaac Walton Trust looks after
Isaac's cottage in the Peak District and introduce kids to fishing. They have jut started a fly-fishing course and where better
than here for a couple of sets to go.
So have a squint at the tyers skills and see just what a great set of flies they are.
